There was another Rainier, the Force rail? but it seem to have very limited mounting surface.

Only two seemed to fit what I want.ġst Rainier Arms Evolution 7.0 KEYMOD (sampson?)Ģnd Seekins Precision MCSR V2 7'' Key Mod Rail System After using both I ended up going with MLOK for several reasons (aesthetics, are more adjustable and is supported by the largest manufacturer of accessories). I haven't had the issues that some have with mounting MLOK accessories, actually I think it is short bus easy. In my personal experiences with both keymod and MLOK systems I found them both easy to use. Keymod does allow for a slightly lower QD mount than MLOK and is almost flush on the inside of the tube (that might affect those mounting suppressors internally within a small freefloat handguard) M-LOK slots requires no special CNC cutters or complex injection molds to manufacture an undercut like Keymod resulting in lower cost to consumers. M-LOK bolts are commonly available (user replaceable) and allow more torque to be applied than Keymod. M-LOK nuts are much lower cost to manufacture than Keymod resulting in lower cost to consumers. M-LOK slots are much lower cost to manufacture than Keymod resulting in lower cost to consumers. M-LOK can use any of the millions of MOE accessories already fielded via an adapter plate. M-LOK has a uniform internal edge that can be generously chamfered allowing a better feel on the hand than Keymods 45 degree under cuts. M-LOK accessories are multi directional (can be mounted forward or backwards).

M-LOK uses a larger bolt and has greater direct surface contact than Keymod resulting is greater pull out strength (a single MLOK mount exceeds 300 lbs in all materials) M-LOK has better recoil/impact support than Keymod. M-LOK is a true direct attach system so a line of accessories mounted next to each other do not need to be slid off to remove just one piece. M-LOK uses a flat nut that is suitable for polymer, metal and carbon fiber mounting surfaces. M-LOK works over a wider material thickness range than Keymod. Here are a few M-LOK advantages over Keymod off the top of my head M-LOK just updates the MOE standard with a TDP that is open to all manufactures and was designed from the outset to be utilized on metal, polymer or carbon fiber mounting surfaces. M-LOK is backwards compatible with MOE accessories and is more versatile and easier to manufacture than either MOE slots or Keymod. Why MLOK over KeyMod? The following is a quote from this thread by Rich Fitz: Seems well made and low profile.ĭoes anyone have a picture of their SLR keymod installed that they can post? I'd appreciate it. that and I'm looking at the KM ThornTail for a light mount. I may just go with the SLR if another option doesn't present itself by the end of the week, I'm leaning more toward the Keymod system with some of the comments about the locking nuts on the mlok. But when I shot it it feels like holding a can of Pepsi. He had a one of their Diamond forearms on a rifle of his. But My husband refers to them as "over engineered" on some of their products. I found this one as well just a few minuets ago:īut it looks kinda bulky. The point is, even with a gas tube those two screws are what keep the handguard aligned. The mounting design is pretty solid and the two screws generate plenty of clamping force to hold the handguard in position. That feature will not maintain precise alignment of the handguard whether it's old or new style. Their anti rotation feature, both old and new, is just a last resort to keep the handguard from spinning if it comes loose from the barrel nut. So the only thing keeping the handguard that my front sight will be mounted to is two little clamp screws at the bottom.ĭoes anyone know of someone that offers a 7-7.5" keymod or mlok? I'm having a heck of a time finding anything. And seeing as I have a blowback 9mm there isn't one. The issue I'm having with the SLR rail is the Anti rotation device seems to rely solely on the gas tube. I'm back at SLR rifleworks with their Solo Lite, which is in stock offered is a 7.25' both Mlok and KeyMod. MI had the Gen II SS in 7", but then I realized its not really an mlok. I was disappointed to see that Geissele didn't, theirs looked EXTREMELY nice. None of them have a 7" (or close to it) Keymod or Mlok. Heck it's going to get a set of MBUS Pros on it eventually since my husband wants his ARMS #40 back at some point :oĬhecked with Geissele Automatics, BCM and MI. I already have magpul stuff for it.MOE+ grip, AFG2, glock ranger plates.been nice to have a matching rail. Kinda a shame really, I like there other products.

is defiantly not even a consideration, no interest in a plastic handguard. If this has any bearing on your decision, I asked and he responded Magpul has no plans to make anything keymod (why would they? its their competitor)
